The wooden house

For the 2011 IMM Cologne International Furnishing Show, Tvilum, one of Europe’s leading furniture manufacturers, commissioned Bureau Detours to create “The wooden house”, a creative architectural structure made out of 75 disposable pallets normally used for transportation of Tvilum furniture.
With a sharp focus on the environment, Tvilum makes sure that each stage of their production process, materials and methods are sustainable. The wooden house is thus a sustainable innovation designed to room adventure, interaction and participation. Built on location five days prior to the start of the massive furniture fair, it was used as a crossing between a meeting room, a playground and a place to relax at the Tvilum stand.
