The new Historic Museum of Copenhagen commissioned Bureau Detours to make a garden in the entrance of the museum. The garden consists of plants that archeologists have found historic proof of, through archeological excavations in 400-year-old backyard latrines. The space is lit up by colorful lamp poles with unique top pieces that reflects upon the museum’s old Italian villa style. In the process of making the space Detours have hosted a variety of workshops with the purpose of cocreating and involving children in the project. In that process the children have made tiles with plant prints, specially designed compost-wheelbarrows and plant beds for bicycles. All things that are represented in the final space.
